Unidentified pottery mark on the back but most likely decorated by Josef Kuba who was a prominent Bavarian porcelain decorator. He started his decoration studio in the city of Karlsbad (now Czech Republic) in 1930 but after World War II he re-established his business in Wiesau (Bavaria). Since then, he decorated a few different pottery manufacturers, like Hutschenreuther or Tirschenreuth, and while Kuba decorated many items in a number of different styles, he preferred to include transfer applications based on oil paintings by the French artist Jean-Honoré Fragonard that mainly depict courting couples. After his death in 1972 his son Horst Kuba continued business until he decided to close in 1989.

Please remember that these antique & vintage market finds are anywhere from 20 to over 140 years old and have been loved and used by several generations before us so please expect signs of aging and wear, as well as slight imperfections such as minor scratches, stains and gilt disintegration, hairlines (superficial cracks), nicks (tiny bits of damage smaller than 1mm, as opposed to a chip which is something you can easily see with the eye and feel to the touch), firing specks or similar technical imperfections.
