Set of 2 Antique Double-Handled Soup Bowls with matching saucers made in the late 1800s/early 1900s by Charles Ahrenfeldt in Limoges, France for Higgins & Seiter, one of New York finest china retainers by the turn of the last century. On November 24 the New-York Tribune reported “Higgins & Seiter, Nos. 51, 53, and 55 West Twenty-first St., and Nos. 50, 52 and 54 West Twenty-second-st., are one of New-York’s best china firms. Their place of business has recently been enlarged by the addition of a new six story building, richly stocked with beautiful china and glass.”
These soup bowls with handles are a piece of history for a New Yorker and they must have been loved and cared for very much because despite their age they are in amazing condition. The gold is striking and shows no fading, the white porcelain is prestine and the colors in the floral design still lively. They are truly collection pieces.
These Antique Double-Handled Soup Bowls With Saucers are perfect for serving a cream of mushroom soup, lobster bisque or tomato cream soup. Not into soups? No problem, use them for serving small appetizers.
