An exceptional three-piece 19th century antique seating set, featuring a sophisticated settee and a matching pair of side chairs. This ensemble captures the classical style of the English Regency and Victorian periods with its petite scale and delicate frame, making it a perfect statement collection for an entry hall, drawing-room, or intimate dining area.
The defining feature is the curved spindle-back design. The chairs feature a high, slightly curved top rail over a fan of vertical spindles, while the settee features a dramatic, low-profile barrel back with a full radial spindle arrangement. All pieces rest on gracefully turned and reeded legs, a characteristic detail of the Regency style, which are tapered and end in small feet.
The legs are connected by elegant turned "X" or cross stretchers and each seat features upholstery in a light cream or ivory damask fabric with a delicate, repeating geometric or floral pattern, offering a neutral palette that can easily blend with existing decor. Crafted from rich, dark-stained mahogany, the wood displays a deep, lustrous patina.
Note that the seating is significantly smaller in scale than contemporary pieces as was the case with furniture in the 18th and 19th centuries. These are light and delicate and make quite the statement.
