Vintage Blue & White Shishi Guardian Lions

A beautiful pair of vintage Chinese blue and white porcelain imperial guardian lions (shishi), also known as foo dogs. They both hold a ball in their mouth which signifies wealth and them protecting it. 

The female lion represents yin and symbolically protects the people dwelling in the home - she is featured with her cub under her paw. The male lion has his paw on a ball that is carved out with geometric patterns and  signifies control over his domain and protection of his home.

Place this pair on a console table in the foyer, or make them a focal point of the living room atop the mantel.
