1980s Grand Scale Tropical Macaw & Cockatoo Oil Painting in Gilt Frame, After Jakob Bogdány

A magnificent, large-format oil on canvas painting by American artist John Kraft, after the 18th-century masterpiece "Two Macaws, a Cockatoo and a Jay, with Fruit" by Hungarian-British court painter Jakob Bogdány. This late-20th-century work is a masterful homage to the "Menagerie" style popular in the royal courts of Europe, featuring a vibrant collection of exotic tropical birds perched amidst a bountiful harvest of summer fruits. It captures the dramatic chiaroscuro lighting and intricate detail of the original, from the textured plumage of the Macaws to the delicate bloom on the grapes.

Housed in a heavy, deeply recessed 3.5" deep wood frame with intricate rococo-style scrollwork and a burnished gold finish.
