Mid-Century Ugo Zaccagnini Hand-Painted Italian Landscape Plates

A set of four hand-painted dinner plates by the Florentine studio of Ugo Zaccagnini dating to the mid-20th century (c. 1937–1958). These 11-inch plates are a masterclass in monochrome artistry. Rendered in a deep, lush emerald green against a creamy white glaze, they feature three hand-painted vignettes of the Italian countryside. From rolling Tuscan hills and rustic villas to the iconic silhouettes of cypress trees, the level of detail captures the whimsical, storied essence of Italy's artistic heritage.

The plates are finished with a sophisticated scalloped rim and delicate feathered edge-work, a hallmark of Zaccagnini’s transition from traditional Majolica to the "Hollywood Regency" elegance that made the brand a favorite of high-end retailers like Neiman Marcus and Gump’s during the 1950s.

• Great vintage condition with light, age-appropriate glaze wear and minor "flea bite" nicks along the scalloped rims. One plate has a more significant chip on the upper rim that has been historically patched/filled. The repair is blends remarkably well with the creamy glaze, making it barely noticeable during use or display (see last photo).
