Adorable pair of Italian mid-century alabaster Poodle dog bookends. Elegantly carved from alabaster, each bookend features a Standard Poodle seated in the iconic Continental Clip, complete with a top knot, all rendered in beautiful veined alabaster. The dogs sit regally atop solid black marble rectangular bases with a flecked pattern. The contrast between the creamy white stone and the dark base is dramatic and chic.

They were made in Italy around 1950 or 1960 for Bullock's—the  upscale department store  that closed around 1995 before converting into what we know today ads Macy's—and they perfectly capture the era's playful yet elegant aesthetic.
